Empowering Girls through Digital Education:

On March 13, as part of the ongoing 2023 CSW 67  (Commission on Status of Women) SACSS, the All India Women’s Conference (AIWC), the NGO Committee on Human Rights, NY and the International Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers (IFS), hosted a webinar titled “Empowering Girls through Digital Education: Reaching All those Left Behind. Sudha Acharya, SACSS Executive Director, who is also the Principal AIWC Representative to the United Nations spoke at this parallel session which was moderated by Dr. Manju Kak, Secretary General of the AIWC. The panel discussed the troubling impact of the digital literacy gap on the empowerment and future prospects of girls, and explored solutions to ensure girls had equal access to digital literacy. Other panelists included: Kalyani Raj – President, AIWC; Dr. Roberta Nassar – Chair, NGO Committee on Human Rights, NY and Representative to the UN IFS; Pallavi Gahlaut – Program Office, Global Glow; Dr. Tasha Singh Parihar – Professor, Mass Communication, Galgotias University; Shuba Balasubramanian – Partner, Deloitte and Soma Wadhwa – Fellow, India Development Foundation. Navina Sitaram – Representative of AIWC to the UN summarized the talk and Shevata Talwar- Joint Secretary AIWC introduced the speakers. With 100 plus attendees from all over the world, the panel was a resounding success.
