Admission Requirements

Please keep in mind that every aspect of the Admissions process is competitive. From the moment you submit in inquiry card to your last question of the interview, we will be comparing your interactions with us to other applicants, best practices, and the expectations of the Admissions Committee.

Undergraduate / Post-Baccalaureate Requirements – Reflected on Official Transcripts

One full academic year of:

  • English Composition
  • Calculus or Statistics
  • Physics with Labs
  • Biology with Labs
  • General Chemistry with Labs
  • Organic Chemistry with Labs

MCAT Report from AAMC with Verification Code – not required but highly recommended particularly if there is some area of weakness reflected in your transcript(s).

Clinical Experience
Minimum of 200 hours of patient care experience reflected in either professional or volunteer healthcare environments. Reflecting the general trend in medical education to bring clinical experiences earlier and earlier in curricula, we expect BIMS students to be comfortable and poised, reflecting the highest levels of professionalism from their first day with us.

Application Process
Complete Application Online – please take the time to complete every section of fully as possible. We will certainly be evaluating your transcripts independently. However, you can speed our evaluation processes significantly by giving as much detail as available on the Application itself.

Official Transcript(s) – mailed directly from the institution. Once received we will update your Application file and inform you of their receipt. (We will need to insert the physical address of a mail service which will receive mail for us.)

Electronic versions may be sent to (institutional Admissions address – admissions@BIMSmed.org?)

Letters of Recommendation / Advisor Packet – mailed directly from the institutional on letterhead. Minimum of two Letters. May be a combination of Academic and Professional Letters.

Pre-Interview
Once your Application and supporting documents have been received or are expected shortly, the Admissions Department will schedule a Pre-Interview. This conversation is designed to be mostly informal offering both BIMS staff and the Applicant to cover issues and information which is not covered in the formal interview process.

Interview
Ideally in person. However, video conferencing will be the standard process for the foreseeable future. Formal. Structured. All interviewees will be asked standard sets of questions.
